As many lingerie addicts are probably already aware, Bordelle opened their doors for their semi-annual sample sale at their London studio yesterday. The event never fails to draw a huge crowd and it can often feel pretty overwhelming, especially if it's your first time. So with that and with the semi-annual lingerie sample sale at the Chelsea Town Hall in mind, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to share a couple of quick top tips!
Get there early!
I cannot stress this enough, especially if you have your heart set on a particular piece. Events like these have high turnouts, and most people make a point of turning up early. At the Bordelle sample sale arriving just 30 minutes after opening could see you waiting an hour (or more) to get in, as happened to me this past weekend. If you'd rather have a casual browse of what's on offer you're better off arriving later in the day when the crowds have died down and the spaces are much less busy!
Have a budget
Something happens (at least to me) when there's a sale, I find myself compelled to buy things simply because they're cheap. This can make sample sales quite dangerous events for the health of your wallet. Sometimes the draw of a luxury product at a reduced price can cause you to buy more than maybe you originally intended and sometimes you can end up regretting this. A good trick is to set yourself a firm budget, withdraw it in cash and leave your card at home (if you can!) This leaves you no way to overspend, and shouldn't leave you regretting purchases later on.
Write a list
Have a specific piece or pieces you're looking for? Write it down! A good way to make sure you spend your money wisely at events like this is to strategically think about the pieces you want to get. Think about whether you have a set that you want to complete by buying the suspender belt, or if you have a bra you need the matching knicker for. Sample sales are great places to get pieces like this that you may have missed out on the first time!
Know your size
If you can know your sizes beforehand, most sample sales have a communal changing room of sorts but as can be expected they get busy quick. If you don't have the time to wait in line to try things on, or you're simply not comfortable changing in a communal space, knowing your sizes can be a lifesaver! Many brands also separate their stock by size so knowing what size you're looking for will give you a head start on some of the other attendees which at events like these is sometimes needed.
And most importantly....
It may sound silly but I always have the most fun at events like these! They're a great way to meet like-minded lingerie enthusiasts, and I always run into so many friends I've meet online but don't often end up with the chance to see in real life. It's also a great opportunity to meet some of the people working behind the scenes at your favourite brands!
I hope some of these tips are helpful, especially if you've not been to a sample sale before! If you hit up the Bordelle sample sale yesterday or you're planning on going to the Chelsea Town Hall sale next week let me know what you picked up/are hoping to pick up down below!
Until next time ❤️
